Staff Nurse plays a central role and is responsible in providing nursing care to residents in Singapore Christian Home. They support the Nurse Manager & Director (Nursing) in daily operations of the ward.
JOB SCOPE
CLINICAL, TRAINING, QUALITY AND RESIDENTS’ SAFETY
- Comply with approved standards of nursing practice.
- Provide nursing services requiring substantial and specialised nursing skills.
- Work closely with residents’ doctors and the multi-disciplinary team to provide care for residents; update changes in residents’ conditions and needs.
- Ensure care delivery and nursing interventions are carried out as outlined in the care plan.
- Evaluate residents’ responses to care interventions on a regular basis and recommend revisions to care plans as necessary.
- Work with allied health professionals and/or initiate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures.
- Carry out and supervise assessments for all new admissions.
- Prepare clinical documentation and ensure all documentation is current.
- Prepare and administer medications to residents in compliance with safe medication practices.
- Responsible for the safe keeping of controlled drugs.
- Supervise staff to ensure safe medication practices.
- Manage any emergency situations that arise and ensure prompt action to mitigate the situation. Escalate promptly to the Nurse Manager where necessary.
STAFF RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT
- Participate in the training and development of staff.
- Work with the immediate reporting supervisor to conduct quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
- Supervise, mentor, and guide the nursing team (Enrolled Nurses, Nursing Aides, Health Attendants, and Care Support Staff).
OTHERS / ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Work with staff to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Deputise for the Nurse Manager in his/her absence.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Senior Nurse Manager / Nurse Manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A) EDUCATIONAL, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Locally trained: Diploma/Degree in Nursing
- Foreign-trained: Diploma/Degree in Nursing
B) PROFESSIONAL LICENCE
- Locally trained: Registered Nurse (RN) with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)
- Foreign-trained: Board Pass (Professional Regulation Commission, PRC)
C) OTHERS
- Compassionate, patient, and hardworking
