Honoring Our Helping Hands

September 22, 2025

Our residents have taught us to cherish the little things in life — smelling flowers, observing insects, and feeling the breeze during a stroll in the park.

We are incredibly blessed to have dedicated volunteers who regularly visit our residents, engaging them in meaningful activities — but most importantly, doing so with hearts full of compassion. We want to shine a spotlight on some of our remarkable volunteers who selflessly give their time and effort to keep our residents connected and cared for.

Grace Lee-Khoo
(Founder of Access Paths Productions)

“We all have different needs and as this body ages, we will become disabled one way or another. It’s just which one of the senses, or cognitively, which part goes first. It’s about how we can make the world less disabling.”

Grace is a UK trained disability arts practitioner and drama educator. She co-founded Singapore’s first disability-led theatre company Access Path Productions in 2018 and can be seen on Channel News Asia’s The Assembly.

Grace visits our home so often that the children are always asking our staff, “When is she coming again?” Her interactions with them clearly show her love, and her charisma never fails to impress us. She always arrives with lots of interesting barang-barang (which means “things” in Indonesian) that spark the children’s curiosity. She brings stories to life, bringing the outside world to our children — and for that, we are truly blessed by her, beyond measure.

Jun Gui
(Founder of Bakedept)

Sprinkling love and cake crumbs with a generous heart, Jun Gui — a passionate local baker — pours her time and energy into making the world a better place, one bake at a time. She brings with her a wealth of experience working with medically fragile children, the elderly, and even nurses.

We truly want to shine a light on her for all she has contributed to our home. The inspiration behind her baking classes is beautifully captured in this quote:
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
– Pablo Picasso.
